Spring typically marks fresh starts and so it is with FiBAN as well! Now, Tiina will be bringing fresh, new ideas and leadership into the FiBAN community.

“I look forward to learning more about the soul landscape of angel investors and what kind of expectations or development ideas they may have. I’ve never worked in a nonprofit before, which gives a new perspective to my previous experience,” Tiina Laisi-Puheloinen says.

Not only has she accumulated extensive experience in international and national leadership roles, but she has also led teams in a startup and in larger companies. Prior to joining our team, Tiina served as the CEO of Priceff, where she is currently an investor. She also has extensive experience in various leadership roles at Sanoma Digital and the Finnish Defence Forces. Learn more about Tiina’s background in this March interview.

“I am very familiar with different financial instruments and how applying for funding actually works. Naturally, I am already familiar with the daily operations and responsibilities of a CEO as well as many of the tools that are used at FiBAN. What I have also learned from learning different sized teams, every person should be recognized as an individual, whether it’s a larger or a smaller organization. People are people”, she coincides.

Building bridges between entrepreneurs and investors

When asked to tell a fun fact about her, she shares: “I often get approached by men to share their army experiences. Many people who know that I hunt are interested in hearing about my hunting adventures, which I do like to talk about,” she laughs.

But hunting is not all she is interested in. Hearing about others’ life paths is what she finds utterly fascinating. “I hope that members approach me to share their life stories as entrepreneurs and business angels and how they ended up to where they are now. I think it’s deeply interesting and inspiring to hear those stories”, she describes excitedly.

Her background as an entrepreneur gives her a unique perspective on what it’s like to be at the other end of the table where one’s lifework may be at stake. “When I’ve discussed with startup entrepreneurs, I can really understand what they’re going through. It’s heartbreaking when someone has built their lifework as an entrepreneur and how it can be gone in seconds when the runway is cut short. It’s something that is hard to understand if you haven’t walked the entrepreneurial path yourself,” she adds.

The FiBAN team is excited to start working together with Tiina, and we have already had a great start at the office this week. If you have any questions or ideas for developing FiBAN, or you’d like to meet Tiina, do not hesitate to contact her.
