FiBAN Monthly: Wrapping up 2023 and glancing at events and cooperation of 2024

FiBAN Monthly by Mari Kirjalainen

Autumn 2023 has been busy with training related to the 4NGELS and BAKE programmes. FiBAN batch is soon about to end, and the top 3 startups of the project, Auttamisesta Arkea, Make a BIM, and Stygvir, pitched to the international audience at FiBAN’s brunch event during Slush week. The programme’s Autumn batch collected over 150 startup applications and 70+ investors, and that’s quite a number! Before we settle down for a cozy Christmas break, it’s a great time to take a sneak peek at the training and events at FiBAN for the coming year!

New Cross-border Investment Collaboration with Connect2Scale

2024 is off to a fantastic start, as our new Connect2Scale project kicks off on January 23rd. This European Union-funded programme aims to close the investment gap and create a thriving environment for European startups through dynamic cross-border collaboration. Connect2Scale is designed to supercharge EU startups into thriving scale-ups with a clear goal: fortify and broaden collaboration between investment ecosystems and visionary investors!

To reach these ambitious goals, we will train angel investors by organizing cutting-edge Angel Academy training for the next generations of angel investors (Spring 2024) and experienced angel investors (Autumn 2024) alike. We will invite FiBAN angels’ portfolio startups to enjoy the project as well by activating FiBAN Founders’ Club and organizing a fascinating pitching day event later in 2024. This project will provide a chance to explore online one-stop shops called investment lighthouses, offering insights into specific countries’ investment ecosystems. These are just a few teasers, and we can’t wait to get you onboard in Connect2Scale to explore more.

International delegation trips and gatherings coming with angel investors and partners

Pack your bags – in 2024, we’re going on a trip! Or trips, actually, and all FiBAN members are invited, of course! There are a few to come, but for now, we can reveal that our Spring seems to be packed with study trips since the 4NGELS programme takes us to get to know the Slovenian investment ecosystem and its flagship event called Podim. Later on, we will also visit our neighbors in Estonia, as EstBAN and EBAN will co-host the EBAN congress of 2024. We will, of course, visit Latitude59 the same super week.

Mingles, meetups, and new event formats

We will continue offering high-quality educational Business Angel Training sessions on interesting and trendy topics, not to forget the networking part. FiBAN Angel Gala and a new type of event format – lunches – are also already cooking and being prepared here at the office, and we can’t wait to tell you more about these!

Meeting each other and creating valuable connections is at the heart of FiBAN membership. It is equally important to provide high-quality education for those of our angels who can’t participate in our events on-site. Therefore, we will also focus on continuing to provide online and hybrid options in our training sessions. We want you to get the most out of your FiBAN membership from the very beginning, and our new members can participate in onboarding sessions either online or offline.

I am always happy to hear your feedback and ideas on FiBAN training and events! We track those regularly, but you are very welcome to reach out to me – I would love to have a chat and get to know our members.
