Since the beginning of FiBAN, cross-border collaboration has been in the DNA of our operations. In addition to being an active member of EBAN, one-to-one cooperation with other BAN’s, particularly those nearby, has been – and still is – important in creating cross-border opportunities for our members. Having an international angel in a syndicate is a good target for many rounds, as with them comes a breadth of complementary knowledge. Delegation trips have also been a popular FiBAN service, and we are looking forward to continuing arranging those. If you’re interested in hearing about upcoming trips, sign up here.

One of the most exciting current projects that we have ongoing is the New Nordic Leads project, for which we have partnered together with EstBAN. New Nordic Leads is a training program that boosts cross-border investments by improving startups’ investment readiness and educating the next generation of lead angels in the Baltics and Nordics. It consists of an 8-week startup program with mentoring from angel investors – and syndication opportunities for our members.

The application period for the third batch is now open and we are looking for mentors and startups to join. So investors, become part of our unique cross-border syndicate investment journey; mentor potential high-tech startups (sign up here), follow their journey through the startup investment readiness training, and finally, have the opportunity to invest in carefully evaluated startups. Know of startups who could be up for the task? Please help us spread the word

Let’s not let COVID slow cross-border collaboration down, instead let’s use the opportunities recent digital leaps have given us, and build a stronger and closer ecosystem together!

FiBAN Monthly is a blog series discussing current topics among FiBAN and angel investing. A new post will be shared each month, alternating between FiBAN Chair of the Board Reima Linnanvirta and Managing Director Amel Gaily. In case you missed Reima’s letter from August, you can read it here.
